An excellent foundation for the serious student. This dance style follows the technique of the Royal Academy of Dance and is the basis for all dance forms.  Martin School of Dance follows both the Graded Syllabus and for the more serious student the Vocational Graded Syllabus of the RAD.

Students are prepared for examinations and competition participation at the discretion of the teacher.

The length of the class is dictated by the grade in which the child is enrolled, as follows:

• Pre-Primary, Primary: one 45-minute class per week
• Grade 1 and 2: one 1-hour class per week
• Grades 3 to 8: two 1-hour classes per week
• Intermediate Foundation and Intermediate - two 1- hour classes and one 45 minute pointe class
• Advanced (Foundation, 1 and 2) - Three 1-hour classes per week and one 1-hour pointe class

• Pre-Primary & Primary
  • Girls - Pink RAD tank suit (with pinched front) , classic pink tights, pink full sole ballet slippers
  • Boys - White ballet slippers, black shorts, white - t-shirt
• Grade 1
  • Girls - Light Blue RAD tank suit (no pinch), classic pink tights, pink full sole ballet slippers, and black character shoes (low heel)
  • Boys - Boys - White ballet slippers, black shorts, white - t-shirt
• Grade 2
  • Navy blue RAD tank suit (with pinched front), classic pink tights, pink full sole ballet slippers, and black character shoes (low heel)
  • Boys - White ballet slippers, black shorts, white - t-shirt
• Grade 3 - 5
  • Navy blue RAD tank suit (with pinched front), classic pink tights, pink full sole ballet slippers, and black character shoes (cuban heel)
  • Boys - White ballet slippers, black shorts, white - t-shirt
• Grade 6-8
  • Periwinkle Mirella Princess seam Spaghetti Strap Leotard,  classic pink tights, pink canvas split sole ballet slippers, and black character shoes (cuban heel)
  • Boys - White ballet slippers, black shorts, white - t-shirt
• Vocational Graded
  • Black Mirella tank leotard, Salmon tights, pink canvas ballet slippers and pointe shoes (for exam - Intermediate Foundation will need Leather full-soled ballet slippers)
  • Intermediate and up - need soft block ballet slippers as well
• Boys
  • White tight fitting shirt or leotard
  • Black or navy shorts (tights for vocational grades)
