Instructor

Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, Amina’s passion for dance and baton twirling began at the age of three. She quickly became a force to be reckoned with in multiple disciplines, excelling in jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, heels, latin, modern, acro, ballet, and baton twirling. Training at Martin School of Dance and Baton Twirling, as well as with the Sundown Optimist Buffalo Group since nine, Amina started assisting with baton and hip hop classes at age 15 and fell in love with helping others, and has been assisting and teaching ever since. Over the years, Amina competed in the World Baton Twirling Championships six times, earning multiple titles including top placements with Team Canada (3rd and 4th place), Jr and Sr. Challenge Cup wins, as well as group Grand National titles and multiple individual titles. Amina is also certified as a Canadian Baton Twirling Federation (CBTF) A1 Adjudicator.

After moving to Vancouver, Amina further honed her craft at Harbour Dance Centre, completing both the ITP and ATP programs under the mentorship of Moe Brody. She also joined Quill Collective during Cycles Three and Four under the direction of Carlo Atienza. During her time in Vancouver, she had the opportunity to work with some world-renowned choreographers – Carlo Atienza, Moe Brody, Charmaine Baquiran, Teya Wild, Prince Nii Engmann, Luther Brown, Dondraico Johnson, Nadia White, and Maureen Johnson. All while continuing to train with top industry professionals and further expanding her skill set.

Amina has pursued vocal coaching, acting lessons, film counseling, and even circus training, all of which contribute to her well-rounded approach to performance. Her diverse experience has led to numerous performance credits, including appearances at WE Day (CTV/Toni Tarrant), the indie movie musical So Glad You Came (Laura Ross), Victoria Anthony’s music video for Real Life (Lisa Metz), the Harlem Globetrotters Half-time (Wendy Spicer), and several high-profile galas and events such as the Vancouver Liver Gala (Julio Fuentes) and the Boss Babe Gala (Jaimie Kopeck).

As a regular student Amina is currently at the UofR for her Kinesiology undergrad, and a member of the Collective Company Program at Collective Studios, where she brings her unmatched creativity, energy, and positive attitude to every project.
