Sara Mougeot (nee Thibeault) twirled and danced at Martin School of Dance and Baton for 18 years, training in Baton Twirling, Jazz, Acro, and Ballet. Sara is a former member of the Sundown Optimist Buffalo Gals and Martin Showcase Dancers. Sara started assisting with baton and acro classes at age 15 and fell in love with helping others.
Sara represented Canada at the World Baton Twirling Championships and International Cup from 2005 – 2012 in various events including Pair, Team, Freestyle, Solo, Two-Baton, Three-Baton, Artistic Twirl, Artistic Pair, and Artistic Group. In 2007, Team Canada, of which Sara was a member, won a Bronze Medal. Nationally, Sara has won many national titles, including Grand National Duet, Solodance, Medley, Three Baton, Dance Twirl Team, and Freestyle Team. Sara also has received Athlete of the Year, Pair/Team of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, and the Challenge Cup.
Sara is active in the baton community serving as the Saskatchewan Baton Twirling Association (SBTA) and CBTF Skills Development Representative, and formerly as an Athletes Representative for both organizations.
